Hillary Deserves Better

Did you ever stop to wonder why so many voters have a negative impression of Hillary Clinton? Could it be because the GOP, knowing she would be the next Democratic nominee, spent eight years trying to convince people she is untrustworthy, incompetent or worse? Sadly, instead of focusing on governing this nation, a GOP controlled Congress wasted millions of taxpayer dollars "investigating" her, aided by right-wing political pundits who never stopped attacking her in the most unfair, personal and cruel manner. As a result, many people now accept statements like "Hillary is a crook", or "devious", or "untrustworthy" as if they were truths instead of GOP political propaganda unsupported in fact.

The truth is Hillary Clinton is a woman who has dedicated her life to serving this country and is entitled to be treated with respect. She has never been accused of violating her marriage vows or being anything other than a loving mother to her daughter. She is intelligent, well educated and possesses a wealth of experience ensuring she will make an exceptional President. She is also an incredibly strong person to take all the crap thrown at her and keep on going. The "crooked Hillary" hype being accepted by so many proves that propaganda works.

If you say something often and loud enough, people will start to believe it whether it is true or not.  Which, by the way, has been the GOP's modus operandi for decades.

The GOP has provided ample proof that the majority party in Congress can sabotage virtually everything in the President’s agenda and defy the Constitution by preventing a qualified candidate’s appointment to the Supreme Court. Isn’t it time for all voters to look beyond the media circus surrounding the presidential candidates and carefully examine where the two major political parties stand on truly important issues before they head to the polls in November?

The current minimum wage is so low many workers qualify for food stamps.  Democrats support raising the minimum wage. Republicans support cutting funding for food stamps.

Healthcare is an unalienable right. Democrats created Medicare and the Affordable Health Care Act. Republicans, who vehemently opposed both, have proposed replacing Medicare with a voucher system, extending the eligibility age from 65 to 67 and wasted time and taxpayer money voting to repeal Obamacare rather than making a meaningful attempt to improve it.

Social Security, instituted by Democrats, ensures American workers have something to sustain them in their old age. The GOP views Social Security as a socialistic, “entitlement” program too costly to maintain. If you agree, vote Republican.  When the GOP finally succeeds in privatizing Social Security, Wall Street will be ecstatic.

Vote for Democratic candidates if you believe climate change is a threat to humanity, the right to vote shouldn’t be suppressed, women are entitled to equal pay, racism and hate speech are dangerous, “trickle-down economics” benefits no one but the rich and the secular government created by the nation’s Founding Fathers should be preserved.

However, if you believe Congress’s top priorities are sabotaging the Presidency when a Democratic is in the White House, zealously guarding corporate profits at the expense of workers, consumers and the environment and repeatedly cutting taxes for the 1% at the expense of the 99% defy logic and vote Republican.
